In November 2016, the TSO launched Our Shared Anthem, an interactive online multimedia feature celebrating Canada’s diversity. It launched Canada Mosaic, a year of special programming marking Canada 150. I was responsible for developing the concept and producing all content.
As the symphony of the world’s most ethnically diverse city, the TSO recorded “O Canada” accompanied by singers representing 12 of Canada’s most commonly-spoken languages: English, French, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, Tagalog, Cree, American Sign Language, and Tamil. We then developed an online platform that allows users to toggle between the different languages.
Days after the election of Donald Trump, the TSO’s message of diversity and inclusion resonated with audiences around the world. It demonstrates the important role that the arts can play in the international dialogue.
