In 2017, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra marked Canada 150 with a $10 million celebration of Canada’s diverse musical landscape, called Canada Mosaic. The program involved commissioning 54 new Canadian works, spanning from an animated film and score about an adorable beaver named Kit, to a triple concerto for concertmasters of TSO, OSM, and NACO, to 40 short works called “Sesquies.” Over 40 performances were recorded and streamed more than 15 million times across multiple platforms including social media and a new e-learning platform for students and teachers.
